The President of the Cultural Route “Historic Cafes Route”, Vassilis Stathakis, participated in the 66th Forum of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on “Sustainable coastal and maritime tourism in the Mediterranean: Challenges and opportunities in the post-COVID era” held 2-4 June 2021, at the Hotel “Great Britain”, in Athens.
The Forum was an innovation since a large number of participants attended physically . The purpose of the Conference was to bring to the fore ideas and perspectives for the future of the tourism industry, after the unprecedented crisis of the pandemic of covid 19. The Forum of the World Tourism Organization was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, and concerned tourism recovery policies industry for the post covid-19 era.
Τhe 66th Meeting of the Committee of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for Europe, honored with their presence the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Minister of Tourism & the President of the European Regional Committee of the World Tourism Organization Haris Theocharis and the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili.
At the Forum, the President of the Cultural Route “Historic Cafes Route”, Vassilis Stathakis, had conversations with the Minister of Tourism & President of the European Regional Committee of the World Tourism Organization Haris Theocharis, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Sofia Zacharakis and the General Director of Politics of the ministry of tourism Panagiota Dionysopoulou regarding the completion of the dossier of the Cultural Route “Historic Cafes Route”, which is in the process of being certified by the Council of Europe. On the same subject Mr. Stathakis had meetings with the Mayors of Corfu, Meropi-Spyridoula Hydreou and Skiathos Thodoris Tzoumas.
In fact, the Mayor of Corfu and the Mayor of Skiathos committed to promote the idea of “Historic Cafes Route”, by locating Historic Cafes of their cities to be members of the “Historic Cafes Route”
The President of the Cultural Route “Historic Cafes Route “characteristically stated that: “Cultural Routes are a very important factor of cultural tourism and cultural entrepreneurship, they represent the indisputable future of tourism.”
