“Historic Cafes Route” participated in the 10th international advisory Forum “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe, held between 29 September – 1 October in Kutaisi, Georgia. The President of the “Historic Cafes Route” presented, during the Forum, the 11th International Forum to be held in Chania, 5-7 October 2022 (the presentation can be found here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mYtdgK2kVc&t=289s)
This year’s Forum in Kutaisi, Georgia took place remotely, due to the restrictive measures for Covid19, and was also shown online for anyone wishing to attend it. It is estimated that the participants exceeded 500, while the Forum was attended by at least 49 countries. (You can watch the videos from conference days at https://www.facebook.com/CultureRoutes)
It is worth noting that the proposal to host the most important International Forum in Chania, had been suggested in 2017 in Lucca in Italy by Vasilis Stathakis, a proposal which was immediately supported by the Council of Europe, the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Greek Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organisation, the Region of Crete, The Municipality of Chania, & the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Chania.
In the Greek delegation to Kutaisi, of Georgia participated Nikolas Giatromanolakis, Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports in charge of modern Cultural issues, George Kalamantis Head of Directorate for International Relations and the European Union, from the Ministry of Culture and Sports and Vassilis Stathakis, President of the “Historic Cafes Route”.
