The prestigious European cultural route Historic Cafes Route accredited by the Council of Europe in 2022 has expanded to the Republic of Moldova. The new Board of Directors of this cultural route approved the accession of the first entity from Moldova. The accession was approved in the very first meeting led by the new president of Historic Cafes Route, the Romanian Arnold Klingeis. It is the first time in history that a Romanian citizen leads a European cultural route.
Currently, Moldova is represented in the Historic Cafes Rout by the Sala de Degustare Wine.md restaurant. Historic Cafes Route President Arnold Klingeis says this decision was a duty of honor. "In February of this year, I had the honor and pleasure of participating in the Chisinau Economic Forum, as a speaker. From the podium of the event, I mentioned that I will support the inclusion in the Route of Historic Cafes of restaurants, cafes and hotels from Moldova that meet the necessary conditions, in order to support the development of tourism in this way. There, I promised this both to His Royal Highness Prince Radu of Romania, and to Mr. Dorin Recean, the Prime Minister of Moldova, and Mr. Igor Grosu, the President of the Chisinau Parliament. Now, I have the joy of fulfilling this promise", said Arnold Klingeis.
He mentioned that he was impressed by the hospitality of the Moldovan hosts, the beauty of the old buildings in Chisinau and its surroundings, the high quality of the wines, coffee specialties and the diversity of the historical gastronomy.
The Wine.md Tasting Room operates in an emblematic building of the capital of Moldova, a historical and architectural monument. The building is known by the locals as "Crama or Oksinoit's House", after the name of one of the owners who, in the 19th century, owned the building. The guests who cross the threshold of the restaurant have the opportunity to taste from the 400 types and varieties of wine available, all produced in Moldova. Also, gourmets are spoiled with the most refined culinary preparations and coffee specialties.
Along with the Wine.md Tasting Room, the Board of Directors of Historic Cafes Route also approved the admission of a well-known restaurant from Alba Iulia, Romania. It is about Pub 13 – Carolina Castle in the European network of "golden cafes", which brings together some of the most representative European establishments.
The president of the Historic Cafes Route, Arnold Klingeis, was until now the ambassador in Romania of the Council of Europe for this prestigious cultural route. He is an entrepreneur with great experience in tourism. He manages the famous Ice Hotel in the Bâlea Lac area, as well as the Brukenthal Palace in Avrig. This palace was the summer residence of the governor of Transylvania and is the center of a splendid baroque estate, transformed into an elite hotel unit.
